It finds a wide variety of practices and policies, and an important, nearly singular trend. Courts and other government background check services are making their records available to anyone.

Something that you don’t often see a lot written about in new media is the strong trend by startups to outsource a lot of their work. Digg for example was originally designed by Kevin Rose outsourcing the job on elance, and sites such as Slideshare and] illumobile.com have gone down a similar path.

ELI® is surveying HR, compliance, and other organizational executives to assess trends in workplace behavioral patterns, types of conduct creating business risks, and how companies are integrating values into the culture to address problematic employee behavior. Participation is open to the public and a report of results will be released Fall 2008.

Graph of the day - this shows how the total miles travelled on American roads have doubled in last 15 years; from traffic volume trends The topical interest is in the little swerve in 2008 - the last 6 months all show year on year declines, which from a climate change perspective is a good thing (we are well into the Red Zone is a gathering consensus around James Hansen of NASA's recent position).
