We've noticed a move to simplicity and the 'accessibility of paper' in newer site design. The idea is a site look 'lived in' rather than slick, and that it be easier to navigate via limiting onscreen instructions and choices. The best sites manage to be truly intuitive. Since all the complexity-eating geeks are already online, and have been for some time, it's good to start seeing sites geared toward 'everyone else'.
