Leighton Meester — aka. Blair Waldorf — went down a funkier, Serena-esque apparel path with her trend-forward ombre mini dress, black and white striped cardi, flat boots and patent blue bag. Copying the look head-to-toe maybe a bit of trial, but thro

Fri, 04 Apr 2008 15:14:55 PDT
Use this guide to measure the potential for growth and success of any business you are considering buying: 1. What kind of marketing best suits the business, and how much of that is being done? If little or no marketing is done, then the new owner has the opportunity to expand by simply adding marketing to the mix. If the business is already heavily marketed, than the growth potential is significantly less,at least in its current markets. 2. Is there capacity in the existing business to be a

MT. VERNON - Illinois Department of Employment Security has announced that unemployment in the area is down since the beginning of the year, but rates are higher than last year. Dennis Hoffman, labor market analyst for the IDES in Mt. Vernon, said the month's slump in employment is not unusual. Husbands add seven hours to women's housework load each week, University of Michigan study says
Fri, 04 Apr 2008 15:17:31 PDT
Bruce Leppien of Ann Arbor was married for 64 years before his wife, Irene, died last July. According to a new University of Michigan study, Leppien created about 23,296 hours of extra housework for his wife in those six plus decades. That's more than 2.5 years of cleaning. "OK," Leppien said with a chuckle. "It's probably true. ... What are we going to do about it?" The U-M study concludes that having a husband creates an extra seven hours a week of housework for women. For men, it's the o
Seven Years of Wi-Fi Networking News

It's hard for me to believe this, but Wi-Fi Networking News is seven years old on Sunday, 6 April 2008: Folks, there are times when I feel a little bit aged. Turning 40 a couple weeks ago didn't give me that feeling. Have two children (1 and 3 2/3) has a bit (mostly when I'm achey from too much carrying and too little sleep). But finding that my "other child," Wi-Fi Networking News is a grand spanking seven years old has, in fact, made me stoop just a little bit. I started Wi-Fi Networking New

Today on Mother Proof: Rules to Keep Kids Safe
Fri, 04 Apr 2008 15:35:02 PDT
Mother Proof has covered a lot of trends revolving around teen driving, as well as teens riding with friends — an even scarier thought. Sara Lacey reports on a growing trend for parents and teens that gives kids an “out” if they’re in an uncomfortable situation (drinking, speeding or reckless behavior) while riding with their friends: All you need is a phone, a code word and a parent who’s willing to take the blame. Set Rules to Keep Kids Safe (MotherProof)

The mobile web: Why the future really is on the small screen
Fri, 04 Apr 2008 16:09:10 PDT
According to a report on Reuters last year, world wide mobile phone subscriptions reached 3.3-billion users or half the world’s population. Compare this to television usage (about 1,5-billion users) or desktop internet usage (about 1,1-billion users), and it is not hard to see why there is so much excitement about the potential of the mobile web. In Japan more than 70% of internet access is via mobile phones as opposed to desktop internet access. Japan’s present is the rest of the world’s futu
